🎄THREE xmas gifts in the Carbon Farming space!🎄

Well, here we are, and it’s that time of year again.

I know, I know, it’s BUSY! Always is at this time of the year as we rush to meet deadlines before collapsing in a heap on or around 20 December.

This is EXACTLY what the Clean Energy Regulator has been doing.

1. The 2021 Soil C Method has been ‘in development’ for the whole year. And now it’s here!

See: the government website

Sure, there have been consultations, revisions, more consultations. No one ever gets exactly what they want, but we have genuine ‘evolution’ in this new method.

New and more ‘new’ activities allowed, a new proposal to enable movement away from just ‘digging holes’ to get a soil carbon baseline figure. Leading to cheaper measurement costs. Other improvements also.

Remember we remain ahead of the rest of the world in having a working Soil Carbon method that can reward farmers for improving their soil health via increases in soil carbon. We are grateful for this improved opportunity.

You will still find that some sections are in ‘method speak’ and not necessarily ‘plain English’. Project Partners like us – Carbon Farmers of Australia – stand ready to help translate it and set out the steps to a Project. We also have four ‘training’ webinars on our website. These are great (so I’m told) if you need to get up to speed on the whole ‘how does this ERF work’ space.

2. Additionally, the Soil Carbon method is one of Minister Taylors’ five ‘technology roadmap’ priorities.

YAY. This is huge. It means there are $$$ being put behind the Minister’s ‘stretch goal’ of soil carbon measurement to be $3/ha. (Could there be an election coming up????)

For example, I recently sat in a 2-hour information presentation from the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (DISER) on “Soil Carbon measurement and estimation – an overview of Australian Government grants and programs”. You need to get informed of these. Click here for the PDF of the slides, or watch the recording.

3. Last, but certainly not least – the BEST (and only) National Carbon Farming Conference & Expo turns 10!

Of course, CFA will be bringing you ALL up to date in May 2022 on the above and everything else of importance in the Carbon/Biodiversity/Natural Climate Solutions space when we hold our 10th National Carbon Farming Conference & Expo in Albury. For the first time we will have virtual seats as well!

Our Partner organisation in this event is the well-known Soil Carbon method specialist AgriProve – and we thank them for their support. Many others are also supporting the conference, including the NSW Department of Primary Industries, the Clean Energy Regulator, and more.

There will also be many exhibitors – all keen to assist you in your Carbon/biodiversity market journey. Early bird rates are open now – so give yourself an early Xmas gift and grab a seat while the going is good! Register here: carbonfarmingconference.com.au

As always, I’m always up for a chat (although I admit that with the current interest in all things Carbon Farming, it may take me a bit longer to return your call).

Onwards!
